Each maggot well-fed and fat will likely live to turn into a fly which will lay lots of eggs on something dead which will hatch into new maggots.

In the meantime, while the flies are flying around looking for the next dead thing, they will be spreading hostile (to humans) bacteria clinging to their feet from one place to another.

After or before they are a hazard and can cause death to all living things they feed on.

It might be because they eat poo and dead bodies and stuff, so take in the bacteria etc.
