Happiness and unhappiness are not the same. Happiness is something which happens as we desire while unhappiness is the opposite. Though there may be some cases where one person's happiness is another one's unhappiness and vice-versa. However wisdom lies in doing one's duty with one's mind full of equanimity and without the desire for result. This can lead to infinite happiness and ultimately enlightenment.

Absolutely! just as night and day occur following one another in one form similarly happiness and unhappiness come in one form and cannot be separated. It comes naturally from the lord and that is the way it has to be. We can neither be happy all the time nor unhappy all the time. Just imagine if we are happy all the time endlessly then gradually our demand for happiness increases and we need bigger and bigger things to be happy and we gradually start losing fun and joy of little things in life, but unlike that if we get few doses of unhappiness in life it gets us recharged and we derive full pleasure from little things in life and we don't take anything for granted... so... I really feel it is VERY important to face unhappy things in life to know the real value of HAPPINESS!!!

I think it all has to do with relativity. If you never experience unhappiness then you can never fully know and appreciate happiness. Everyone will experience both in their lifetime and it is just something we need to learn to deal with. I don't necissarily think that they are directly joined, like two sides of a coin, but I do think that they are related.

I say that happiness is only momentarily. But us humans are more unhappy than happy. Because Most of our lives bring us grief and pain. Because of the struggle of live. Sometimes being happy makes me sad to know that it will soon end.

Of course! There cannot be one without the other. If there is no cold, there can be no warmth. If there is no vice there can be no virtue. If there are no bad choices there are no good choices. The existance of one implies the other.
Imagine there are no uncomfortable chairs. If that were the case there would be no need to define comfortable chairs. There would only be chairs.
