I doubt it, but I would like to think so. It is possible that there was some level of inuendo on the minds of the writers. There was a lot of innuendo back in the days of the censors, writers tried to infuse everything with innuendo as much as possible. There was even a dance scene with Ginger Rogers and Fred Astair where at the end of the dance, he offers her a cigarette.
