If not, tell me who should be there and why.

I agree that both teams earned it and deserve to be there but are they the best two teams in terms of players?

Is luck all you need to win 21 out of 22 games to make it to the world series?

Well, you have Boston, a team with the most wins in the American League (tie-Cleveland), against Colorado, a team with the most wins in the National League (tie-Arizona).

Granted, the Rockies took an extra game to get that one last win, but close enough; can anyone argue that they're not the hottest team on the planet lately? What do you want from them? Sweep all 22? That's not a lucky run; that's some great baseball against some very good teams. They'd been hot all season; they just got EXTREMELY hot at the end. They found a way to win.

I wish the Mets were able to do the same against some bottom-feeding teams down the stretch. I'm a fan, but they didn't get the job done. They collapsed and played with no inspiration down the stretch. Even as a Mets fan, I know there's no way I can say with a straight face that my team deserves to be there. No way.

The two teams have won the seven games they needed to win in the "second season" with great pitching, clutch hitting, and solid fundamentals. They're not there by fluke.

Back where I come from, the best teams are the ones who find ways to win games when they count. Nobody else has done that against Colorado or Boston. Heck, nobody has won games against Colorado whether they counted or not! These are the two best teams, and they've been tested over a 162-game (or 163 as the case may be) season. As for best players, it's about more than stat sheets. These are the players who have gutted it out and played a solid team game in the clutch (and all six, now seven months of the season!). They're the best, that's all there is to it. I don't think anyone deserves it more than they do right now.

I definitely see what you're saying about best teams in terms of players; but really, it all boils down to which team can put together the correct combination of 25 players (or 40 at times) to win games. They've done that. Both teams have players who have thrown big pitches when they counted, gotten clutch hits, and made key defensive plays. That's how you win games, and Colorado's done that 97 times, with Boston sitting at a solid 103. That's a whole lot of congratulatory high-fives.

Just as the horse that wins the race is the best horse in that race for that day the 2 best teams (best records) for this season are going to the World Series............Luck might play a small part but they both got there because they outplayed everyone they faced in the playoffs..........I seriously think Boston is the stronger team (BTW I'm a Yankee fan all the way) and now by coming back from a 3-1 deficit they've picked up a lot momentum to go along with the momentum the Rockies have............So, yes, the 2 best teams for this season are playing in the World Series.............Should be an interesting series to say the least............CAT

Perhaps. The only problem is that 5 game divisional series. The LCS was 5 games for years and no one liked it. The pitching staff was out of rhythm, often the best pitchers couldn't go twice, and the whole thing was just unsatisfying. For the post season in baseball 7 is the most agreed upon number.

With the wild card especially, 7 games are important because just as any team can get hot for 7 games, 5 games means it's even more likely, and when it's the wild card, one just CAN'T be certain the decision has been played out.

All that being said, the 2 best teams from the post season of 2007 are for SURE in the playoffs.

Of course the best team from the NL and the best team from the AL are in the World Series . Now people can argue that the two best teams are from the same league but that's not how it works .
As to what teams have the best players on paper it doesn't work that way either , the key words are "team" and "win" .
You can have a team full of prima donnas and hot dogs that aren't worth a hill of beans and when somebody says that a team is "better" than their "record" it drives me up the wall !!
How about hats off to the teams that made it and for us that didn't " wait til next year, we'll show ya "

As of right now. Yea they are the best teams. Things change over the course of the season. Some players get better and some get worse and in the end winning in the playoff makes you the best. Nobody is hotter than the Rockies, and Red Sox came back big time against a great Indians team scoring more than 10 runs in all of their wins. Baseball is too unpredicatble for anyone to tell who the best teams are anyway. It's all about whos hot now.

Frizzer, what do you want me to say? yes, boston is the team with the second highest payroll. After years of abuse, it's nice to see it go the other way for a change. I haven't watched the Rockies, so I can't speak for the NL, but I hope it's a good series like the one that just passed. I like to see an exciting game as much as the next fan, and what the heck, as long as it's not the Yankees in there, let the best team win!

Well consider this Boston won 96 games tied with Cleveland for the best record in the Bigs. They beat out the Yankees for the AL east championship, they led the whole year the division and mlb for the best record, and beat Cleveland in 7 games being down 3-1. Then you have the Rockies havent lost since september, havent lost in the playoffs, beat San Diego, Philadelphia and Arizona to get to the WS for the first time, well you can say they are the best two teams in baseball right now.

At this very moment, yes, they are the two best teams in baseball. It's like asking who are the best two teams in April, May, June, July, August, September and October. During the course of the season different teams reach different peaks. Without question the Yankees were the best team (win-loss) wise since the all star break. The Phillies and Rockies were the best two NL teams from Sept. 1st to the end of the season.

However, none of that counts if you don't play well in the playoffs. Sooooooo having said that, the Red Sox and Rockie, right this minute, are the best two teams and deserve to play in the series!

In the AL, yes. In the NL, I think the Phillies MIGHT deserve to be there as much as the Rockies (yes, I know how their series turned out). They have a GREAT team, but they can't seem to get all cylinders firing at the same time.

The Rockies got hot at the end of the season, but it won't last. I wonder how having all this off-time will affect them. I think they'll lose their momentum...

Well, no... the two best teams just finished the ALCS. But the format doesn't allow them both to advance.

Does the Series have the participation of the best team from each league? AL, certainly. NL... well, it's a much flatter mix of teams, but I'm not about to argue with a 21-1 streak, so sure, the Rocks are the class of the 2007 NL.
