I got a doll for Christmas one year and I had her for a long time. I loved her but I can't remember her name anymore!

She was a hair growing doll that I got during the early 90's...she had long red hair in almost a ponytail and when you cranked one arm, her hair would get shorter and shorter, and then when you pulled the arm down her hair would grow back out to original length. I know for a fact she wasn't a Chrissy doll. Does anyone remember the doll I'm talking about?

Sounds like Dolly Surprise. It was made by Playskool in the late 80's. Here's a link with a picture:

Hope this helps.

Could it be Katie? First issued in 1992 by Tonka then a few years later by Kenner. This photo shows her in brown hair, and the article mentions blonde so quite probably she also came with red hair. Here is the link:

I agree with the other poster. It's Dolly Surprise. This is the only doll my sister wanted for her 8th birthday in '89.

Also, please read the entire question. She specifically said it wasn't a Crissy doll.

That Doll came out in the seventies. I think Barbie? Or it was a Barbie looking type doll.
