Kennedy announced we were going to the moon in the 60s and we took 8 years to do it. Bush announced in 2004 that we'd be back to the moon by 2020. Why does it take so long? Russians and Chinese have announced they will do it by 2025.

So the question is WHY DOES WE TAKE SO LONG to go back??

Considering the sh*t that we need to be dealing with NOW, I'm not sure I care all that much about Mars OR the frigging moon right now.

Because it is so expensive now. Back in the 60s they took a lot of risks and lost a lot of guys. In addition it was considered a military goal back in the 60s so they had a lot more money. The current space program is very poorly funded because the Democrats don't want to spend money on it.

Aaaah! Too late! Bush should have gone to the moon or Mars before 2000! We would have been well rid of him!
