For gaming, get a desktop. Laptops are not designed for gaming. Because of the size restrictions within the case, they always have a slower processor, and poorer video and audio card.

None, get a desktop. Here's why.
At this moment, there are some good laptops for gaming. But tomorrow you would need to upgrade. Most laptops are limited, and you can't. Some laptops that can take a video board upgrade are Expensive. Many laptops are limited to just 2GB of RAM space. So with a laptop, you are DONE.
A desktop is cheaper, easier to upgrade, can have a HUGE monitor, has more USB ports. It just make sense to have an awesome, expandable, upgradable desktop for a fraction of the money.
Take a look at this good laptop at NewEgg... it would only be OK for games, and look at the price. A good desktop might cost only $900 and really ROCK.

As far as I know ALIENWARE is best for gaming.
I use hp though.
I don't play games that much.
Dell M1710 is also good for GAMING.
Whatever it is be sure to have a good graphics card and a good processor.
