I have a similar problem since I live in Minneapolis and I am a Packers fan. I called the station and got the following answer. When the local team is not on TV then the network actually picks which games will air, not the local station. Also they pointed out that only one network will have a double header each week, so if Fox has the double header then CBS can only show one game (early or late). The biggest problem is the networks go by which teams have a bigger national draw rather than geography. In the end it is die hard fans that get the shaft.

Yeah, FSN Florida plays a lot of old Devil Rays games (from the Wade Boggs era) as well as games from their magical 2008 season. The one game I'd really like to see again? The first game in the team's history, March 31, 1998, when we ALMOST beat the Tigers. It's probably the only game that has ever sold out at the Trop.

I'm pretty sure that local TV stations just default to the national, or marquee matchup when the local teams don't play.

You get the National Broadcast when your team isn't being broadcast. Sure it kinda sucks in a situation like that, but there are quite a few things about the NFL's viewership policies that suck.

If your local team is off, you get to see the "National" game, the game that the networks determine that the rest of the country would most want to see. The national NFC game yesterday was Minn. Vs. Dallas.

That is strange. Because this game (NO vs ATL) is exactly near your zone. I have no explanation, but I am not the one that has to explain. You should ask FOX.
