When I had it (preeclampsia) during my 1st pregnancy, I was put on bed rest and told not to lift anything heavier than a loaf of bread.

They were able to hold off on inducing me until 36 weeks and my son was perfectly healthy.

Most doctors won't give high blood pressure medication to someone who is pregnant. Rest and close doctor supervision is what most will advise. A lot depends on how far along you are though.

(Remember, this info is related to preeclampsia not high blood pressure alone. Any case of PIH requires close monitoring by your doctor; it can be very dangerous and is nothing to mess around with!)

Yes it can be, but most cases of pre-eclampsia and high blood pressure happen later in pregnancy. I am 10 weeks pregnant and just finally do not have a headache anymore. It lasted 9 days straight. I do have a sinus cold now. I too got dizzy as a result, I think, of hormones and not drinking or eating enough. I would not worry yet, but definitely something to mention to your doctor.

I agree you need to speak to your Doctor, the pregnant lady needs some medication to stabilise her blood pressure and she needs to rest and keep calm.

1. Avoid eating foods high in sodium and fats, and too much sugar.
2. Do moderate walking exercise regularly.
3. Avoid taking any kind of medicine as prescribed by a license physician.
4. Monitor your BP every week..
