I had to format/reinstall XP. Now the Nvidia GEForce-4000 is not doing well. Earlier I used to get to activate the card from "Settings" tab in Desktop properties box - but now it doesn't show there. Do I have to uninstall/reinstall the card? The NVidia CD looks pretty confusing - no idea which driver to install. My video and audio are not running in sync anymore :(

Heartiest thanks to all the contributors! I reinstalled WDM driver from the CD and the card was recognized in the system again.

BTW, the audio/video out-sync was still lingering. Finally it was eliminated after I installed the XVid codec!

After a fresh OS installation you need to load all the necessary drivers, including that for your Geforce 4000.

It might be the reason of your driver is not installed properly. If you are confused about the driver cd, try google. Usually the driver we get in the cd , is old. So the best place for the driver is the NVidia website where you are guaranteed to find the latest driver. Just go to goole and find it, it should be real easy to find the driver. You dont need to uninstall your previous driver bcz windows will automatically replace the previous driver with your new one.

it seems that your graphic card driver has not been installed.
Just install the driver by using NVIDIA CD.

- insert CD
- right click "my computer"-> properties-> hardware->device manager
- expand "display adapters'
- doub click the item under display adapter
- go to driver tab
- click update driver
- deny for web update
- select "update from a list of........."
- select your CD drive as source
