The lecturer's take on the plot of the story of Grisellda (popular 18th century opera)
Gisellda is a servant. The king marries her. Then decides to test her.
He pretends to kill their two children. And then informs Grisellda that he wants her to be a servant again, and tells her to prepare the house for his new bride. She accepts all this without a harsh word, such is her love for her husband (!)
Then the husband reveals that the new bride was really her daughter, and that her son is also alive, and that she has past the test, and can continue to be his wife. The opera ends with her thanking him.
This is the 18th century conception of perfect womanhood. Hilarious!

Seeing the smile on our daughters' face when we gave her a Rudolph mobile phone cover. Its nose flashes red when she gets a call through on her mobile! We smiled when we bought it coz in Tesco it said it was 97p but when it went through the checkout it came up as costing 1p! When the check-out operator asked her supervisor to check the price n she scanned another one it came up as 1p too so we bought that one as well! We wanted to buy some more but they wouldn't let us! lol.

Looking for my jeans for about 20mins only to find them on the (pregnant) wife in bed. She didn't want me to go to work & trying to get them from her resulted in fits of giggles!
