Hi There, All the above answers are right in their own way. Yes, the car will lose value pretty much straight away, but if this were the only factor, then there would be no need for new car showrooms would there ? I bought a brand new car, and yes it has lost vale, but so what ? I got the colour I wanted, with the trim that i wanted, with the toys that I wanted... If you can afford to buy Brand New, and the depreciation bit does not really bother you, then GO FOR IT. Nice pic by the way !!

Frankly, I don't know why anyone would buy brand new! You can get a car with 30K miles on it (or less, if you shop around), for about half the price of new. You get 90% of the car's life for half price.
NEVER buy a new car. Let the other suckers do that for you. You can either get almost twice as much car as you would have or save the money, which is even better.
Do not buy the first year a model is out - wait until the model has been out for five or six years. It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes a brand new model has problems they didn't know about, and waiting a few years gives you a chance to see if it will last and gives them a chance to work out whatever problems there might be.

a better way of approaching this would be to also include what is the cheapest car to insure, as the cheapest car to purchase may not be so after you have paid for insurance, we discovered that some dealerships offer a years free insurance in the deal,{we did when we purchased a citroen saxo for our daughter when she passed her driving test but that was 6 years ago now} and dont forget to barter on extras, take control of the sale dont let the salesman get his maximum comission from you, he is waiting for you to barter, he needs the sale more than you need the car, if he dosnt sell cars he will be sacked if you dont buy the car you go somewhere else to buy one.
so start with the insurance companys ask them which is the cheapest car to insure, then add that to the cost of every dealerships cheapest price

You did not indicate where you are located, this will inherently influence the cost of shipping. From what I have seen, the base model Kia's are the cheapest.
One thing to consider when buying general transport is the quality of the materials.
Do you really want to be in a sardine can if you have a penchent for high speeds?
Step up a level or two and gets airbags and ABS...

Depends where you live. If you live in America. The cheapest car you could buy new is a Chevy Aveo.
Next is Hyundai Accent, then Kia Rio.
All are under $11,000.

It was the Perodua Kelsia. The next cheapest was the Daihatsu Charade, a much better bet in all respects.
