Assuming Windows Xp or Vista....

Go into the Control Panel
Click on the Adminstrative Tools icon
Click on the Computer Management icon
Click on Disk management

It should display the C drive, with the 10 Gig partition and the rest of the drive as another partition or as "free space".

You will need to create an extended partiton in the free space if one does not already exist.
Then within that partition you can create your three logical paritions.
As you create the logical partitions, they should each automatically be assigned a letter so that you can access them.

That is because NTFS partitions are not visible to DOS.Meaning they are not compatible. If you want to create 3 partitions then use your WinXP installer to partition the Hard drive. And you cant erase an NTFS based partition in DOS mode that is FDISK i mean.So Insert your WinXP installer in the cd rom drive or dvd rom drive and select it as the first boot. Then follow the prompts and you'll eventually get to the part where you can create and format the partitions.or if you already have drive C: and an Operating System Installed try going to the desktop, right click my computer select manage then select disk management.there you will see your disk partition.by right clicking on the drives or the free space you can select the tasks to perform like create and format partition or even change the drive name.
Well I hope this helps... = )
