What is Christianity precisely?
Is it a name of a place, or a particular culture or faith?

Then what makes you think Islam is the name of a particular culture or place? Islam is the name of a FAITH, that's it. Neither more, nor less. Anybody belonging to any culture and place can be called a Muslim if he/she believes in the tenets of the faith called Islam.

My point is that I just posted another question a few hours ago about Islam in the VERY P&S section. And almost ALL answerers thought Islam was the name of either a particular PLACE or CULTURE. Don't believe me? I'll furnish the URL in a moment. Cheers :-)

Christianity is exactly the faith in Jesus Christ being the holy messiah. That is the necessarry component to call any religion christian. All the different denominations simply focus on different aspects of the bible, in different ways.
