Long ago (really long ago!) I played guiter in a garage band and I had a red left-handed Fender Jaguar, while not original issue, it was old and I absolutely loved it. It had a tremeloe bar- so cool. Keep in mind that I'm just playing rythm guitar and am not a virtuoso and the band was just for fun even though we did play out a few times in some of the crummiest places you can imagine! So of course all way cool guitarists have more than one so when my car was stolen I took most of the insurance money and bought a brand new, minty fresh left handed black Gibson Explorer. Both of those guitars were comfortable for me to wear and seemed easy to play. I got the Jaguar because used left handed guitars are kind of scarce and of all the ones I looked at, it seemed to be the best one. I was just moving up from an accoustic guitar at the time and really didn't know much. The Explore I got because I did like the looks; I also liked Les Pauls but the couple that I tried were too heavy and too expensive. I remember we upgraded the pick ups on the Explorer but I don't remember exactly what we did- this was over 20 years ago. Both guitars are with left-handed individuals who do them more justice than I ever did!
Thanks for letting me remininsce about my guitars. I sometimes think about getting a nice, modest accoustic guitar again to just play at home...

I used to have a '93 Gibson SG Custom that was gorgeous - gold pickups, mother-of-pearl inlays...the whole nine yards. I sold it a few years ago - since I didn't play often (or well), I thought I should be owned by someone who would use it more (and better) than I did.

On an unrelated note, I have a '75 Fender Musicmaster bass. It's completely beat up, but I will always keep it since it has sentimental value...it was made the year I was born.

Hard to beat a true classic

My favorite has to be the first one made just for me by MC Design in west central Ohio. Talked to the guy for about six months before work on it started. The whole thing was built with my sense of tone in mind and for the neck to fit my hand. It's a Strat style body, but that's where all similarities end. From top to bottom it's solid mahogany (for warmth); sports DiMarzio P90 single coils; no tone control (who really uses it anyway); 1 3/4" nut with a "boat cut" neck (wider and deeper); ebony fretboard with no inlays except for my name on the twelfth fret (dots on the side); and I got to design the angled headstock, keeping as much wood as possible for sustain. All oiled finish rather than clear coat (again, for tone). Play D'Addario .11's for extra beef - the whole thing is the tone monster I wanted. Perfect for Hard Blues or old rock.

He's built another one for me, too. This one is a Tele design with EMG's; burled maple top; and the same neck design. Plays a little cleaner and has more of a bite, but still sweet for tone. The difference that having a guitar that fits you personally is night and day. I wish that everyone could try it.

Past guitars I have owned, or still have: Carvin Custon Shop DC 400; Gibson Les Paul Standard Double Cut-away; Fender Strat Deluxe; Ibanez Blazer; Ibanez Artcore Hollow Body. Loved them all, trust me. Lots of acoustics, too, but I don't think you're looking for that, here. This is the advantage to being an older guitar dude; you can afford your desires.

Of the guitars I own, I love my Martin accoustic. It's a prototype that was never put into production, so it doesn't have a model/serial number or name. It's beautifully, but simply made and has that loud concert-hall sound, pure and rich.

To look at, I love the Fender Mustang competition with the racing stripes -- retro and cool.

A Gibson ES-333 I've owned for 4 years. Gibson discontinued it for the 335 but the 335 is about $1,000 more and I'm not a professional musician so I couldn't justify that kind of purchase.

A Gretsch White Falcon. They're stinkin' heavy, but I love them, the sound is very precise.
I have a Fender Strat, it gets the job done.
And I love playing guitar.

Stratocaster and B.C. Rich. I own a guitar, not even a Fender or Gibson or anything, just an electric guitar. I got it on Christmas back in '05. I love it like my own child.

personally my fav. guitar is the B.C. Rich Warlock. Sure its odd shaped but it gives an amazing look of your in a metal band (which i am) plus it can handle almost anything. You can play heavy with it one second and than switch it to a light clean tone the next. Also its got easy access to the frets which makes doing solos so easy. I love it and yes i own 3 lol.
