The mustang is a muscle car that is made by ford that the "average person" can afford. There is currently no car made by dodge that compares, but they are going to make the challenger in a couple years and it will be the mustangs competition. The dodge viper is dodges top of the line sports car. These cars are most commonly called "super cars". The viper is in the same class as the ford gt. The ford gt is fords "super car". Other cars in this class include the chevy Z06 corvette, farraris, and lambo's. All of those cars are considered "super cars" and range in price from $80,000 all the way up to as much as $1,000,000. The ford mustang and future dodge challenger are in the $25,000-$42,000 price range.

All except the Saleen are made completely by Ford. Mustang is base, next ceomes the GT, then the Shelby. Saleen is a little more expensive and has less power than Shelby, but handles better. Top Gear did a comparison of the two cars on a track. Saleen is also the only one with independant rear suspension.

Hello, Yes~! First of all it could be night OR day between ford mustang and a dodge viper, that is like putting a folks wagon with a corvette, a know brainer you know what i am sayingman..? A V6 MAYBE 190 HP, V8 with 400 HP they say... The GTcobra is call the snake...with a dodge viper, V12Engine that pushes 600 to 700HP... A KNOW BRAINER MAN~! DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE between a baby snake and a big bad daddy snake???

The Shelby GT 500 is about half the price of a Viper SRT-10 with around 75% of the performance, and it's far more drivable and comfortable on the street. It also gets better mileage, and has more interior room. It's not as much of a head turner though.

You can find all sorts of Mustangs out there. But there are very few Viper's.
Mustangs are for every day people while the Viper is for the egocentric elite snobs.

well the mustang is slow [ small v/8] the viper has a v10 and 610 h.p. and cost alot more,
