what do you need to get into a mood?
there are different ways of motivating, and they apply to different purposes, so give us a small detail so we don't shoot in the dark. :)
one good way of motivation is to look into something/ someone that you like and it should inspire you to follow their example. Find a role model and try to achieve something that you like they have done.
Find a hobby, an entertainment, an activiy, something that changes your routine...

Unless you suffer from clinical depression, at one time or another most everyone needs to be motivated for one reason or another. Whether that is washing the car, taking out the trash, exercise, or whatever.
Motivation is fueled by desire. For example: desire a new car and you'll find a way (motivation) to get that car.
Motivation is applied to all your desires: dieting, exercising, being rich and so on. Increase your desire and you will have the motivation to complete or fulfill that desire.
How do you increase your desire?
Desire or want is a basic human quality. "I want" is heard all the time. To increase your want (your desire) you need to define a logical reason - a reason that makes sense to you - why you desire this or that in the first place.
In other words if you want a new car, you need to define a logical reason that makes sense to you why you want a new car:
- I am tired of taking the bus every day.
- My old car isn't pretty anymore.
- I want to be in style.
The more compelling the reason is for your desire the greater your motivation will be. In our example "I am tired of taking the bus every day" will motivate you much more to take action to get your new car than that "I want to be in style" will.
To sum it up:
Motivate yourself by defining a strong compelling reason WHY you desire to (fill in the blank).
Get that strong, definite, compelling reason and you will never lack motivation to complete your desire.

I'm struggling with this myself at the moment, and have been for quite a while. It really does depend on what you need motivation for (me = life) but I guess the best thing is just to get on with it, although that's easier said than done at times. Someone told me to write a list of everything I wanted to do, and to write it in the manner of 'F**k it, I'm going to.....', and I think that's the best thing, you just have to say to yourself "I WILL do this". If you need to, promise yourself a treat for when you have done whatever you need to do, or set yourself a goal you know you will enjoy, and work towards it.

It depends on what motivation. Motivation for what? For work? For school? For leaving everything behind and going wild for a while? Find and do what YOU like to do! Everyone is different...

eyes on the prize.
figure out what you want to do, and what extra reward you can give yourself for making it there.
then devise a set of specific, achievable mileposts along the way to get from here to there; make the first few especially do-able and easy, so when you cross them odff your list you really feel like you've made progress.
Leave little notes and reminders to yourself, "I can do it!" etc.
Hang around with positive, energetic people; minimize time with negative, inactive people.
