Cervical mucus is basically just the normal discharge you get throughout your monthly cycle.Just after your period ends you may have a few dry days and as you approach ovulation your cervical mucus becomes clear, slippery ,strechy and really wet.The last day you notice this type of discharge is usually your most fertile time. After ovulation you usually become drier again as you are no longer in your fertile period. If your discharge smells strongly or is yellowy or greeny then you may have an infection.Otherwise all types are probably normal !

its just the normal vaginal discharge women get all the time. But during ovulation it usally changes to a more egg white consitency and colour rather that the pale yellowish runnier version the rest of the month.
And in relation to the anti-sperm thing, your CM isn't going to stop the sperm entering, but rather help lubricate its passage to the holy grail...the egg!

A few days before, up till roughly the day after, your CM becomes 'egg whites' and VERY stretchy- a sign you are ovulating.
