If you love the game, then why not get some formal training so that you can improve even a little bit and play the game for fun. It really depends on your goal for yourself. If you plan to play in the professional level and you think you suck, then I don’t think that you should continue to play. But if you want to just play it competitively and you really enjoy playing, then go for it!

If you truly love playing, don't let poor skills discourage you. Make a realistic assessment of what level you can attain, and don't try to push past that just for the sake of thinking you're supposed to. If you push yourself beyond your abilities, you risk becoming dicouraged and growing to hate what you used to love.
If you really don't have the talent ot play professionally (or on the school team or such), try out as an alternate. Or just get together a regular group of other not-so-talented basketball enthusiats for regular games. Don't give up playing, just be practical about how far you think you can, or want to go with it.

Yes! For a couple of reasons.

1. Practice makes perfect. Everytime you play you will get a little bit better.
2. It's good for you! Everybody needs to play at something, get their heart rate up, etc., etc.
3. You don't have to win something to enjoy playing. It truly is how you play that means something. Good sportsmanship is a skill that most people haven't yet learned.

Train harder and do your best in training. But if still, you suck at it, why not try to become manager of a team or officiate basketball games? :)
