I wish they would cut their losses and move on from this season that was full of politics and controversy. Dennis needs to be a sportsman and accept his protege lost and its time to look forward to 2008. I have a feeling Lewis will have his day in the sun..probably multiple times.

Okay, lets go through this carefully.
1. Ferrari started the year with an illegal car which gave them a distinct advantage and yet avoided any points loss.
2. Alonso and a select few of his team where handed inside information on the Ferrari set up (which as stated above was running against FIA rules). With the exception of apparently being informed in advance of a pit stop, McLaren did not actually act on any of the information they recieved - they could not without using an illegal car themselves. Mc Laren were in breach of an article of trust and fined accordingly, although it must be reiterated that as soon as Ron Dennis discovered the issue he did report it to the FIA and this was the only reason that Ferrari where effectively caught out for their own cheating.
3. Williams and BMW have used a fuel temperature that has given them at least a 5% hp advantage and has effectively saved them from running leaner and slower or from making an additional pit stop. This means that had they run the race fairly they would not have finished in their repective positions - in other words they have cheated by taking an illegal and unfair advantage.
The only driver in the top four that has not escaped any penalty this season has been Lewis Hamilton. Remember that in practice he used two sets of Wets and was stripped of the second set as a result.
If the punishments where in line with those of previous seasons then Lewis would have been crowned champion three or four races back.
Bernie stated that Ferrari would win this year and Bernie is never wrong is he.

I really hate the way this year's championship is being decided to be honest. So thye have a right to fight for the appeal. But is it done in their interest (for Hamilton to win the title)? It's always like that. The stewards had decided not to strip the three drivers of their points but now comes in McLaren. If they win the appeal, I would urge (or should I say appeal ;p) Williams and BMW to counter appeal. If they want some help here they can get it. ;p
It's been a very turbulent year for f1 and i hope this will never happen again. Meanwhile, I hope the FIA doesn't rule in favour of McLAren. They are already being accused of playing too much in deciding the championship and this won't help them one bit.

Totally agree with you, and McLaren should drop their appeal the sport I have watched for 40 years is now being held up to ridicule. McLaren docked their points, but not the drivers, who "allegedly" must have gained an advantage from Ferrari sources. The whole thing is a joke.

there is a big part your missing, when a team is penalized they loose points, but the other cars dont get pumped up in the points, for example when mclaren lost their constructor points ferrari didnt get 1st and 2nd place points for all the races where they were only beat by mclare, and also even after mclaren were excluded if ferrari finished 3rd and 4th that was the points they were given, so even if williams and bmw are penalized kimi should still win

mclaren should accept what happened and move on.
if they win the championship in the fia court people will say it an fia Hamilton fix! and other will say it Ferrari fia fix.
a no win situation.
better to try again next year with a clean slate and do the talking on the track.
i think all f1 fans have had enough of this year court room antics and want to get back to real racing.

When did McLaren cheat???
The incident with the tyres in was a mistake.... the fia looked into this and came to that conclusion.
The Ferrari scandel..... they couldn't find the link proving that Ferrari technology had led to an improved performance by Hamilton or Alonso... they would have done just as well in there races without it. But anyway the fis took the actions they felt appropriate (the biggest fine in sports history and being thrown out of the construters championship).
Whether BMW and Williams HAVE to be punished for cheating.... what message does it send if they aren't?? However whether they should been thrown out of the competion completely.....hmmmm

I hear you. The McLaren drivers were not penalised because it wasn't their fault that they had Ferrari know-how on their cars. It's not Nico/Kubica/Heidfeld's fault that their fuels were too cool. If BMW and Williams were to be penalised, they should take points off the team and not the drivers - that would put Red Bull ahead of Williams in the Constructor's Championship, and would give a meaningful consequence of the penalty

I think McLaren should just stop their nonsense. I know some people will be mad or disagree with me, but I am very sure that if it were Alonso who was almost going to clinch the title and not Lewis, they wouldn't care. They are making themselves look bad and desperate.
