He's a terrible actor.
He's a totally obsessive control freak.
He treats his wife like an object.
He's heavily involved in scientology

Just to name a few reasons I don't like him.

He's not really an actor. It doesn't matter what part he is 'acting', he is always the same. he's always Tom Cruise. Try watching Johnny Depp, the man is a chameleon! What's Eating Gilbert Grape; Benny & Joon; Pirates of the Carribean; Chocolat; Edward Scissorhands, Crybaby... he's a different person in every movie! In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, i didn't even recognise him!!

Also try watching Dustin Hoffman's movies. He acts, he's certainly not the pretty face with the million kilowatt smile that Tom Cruise is, he's an actor, and every movie or part he plays is different and unique.

Another actor worth watching is Val Kilmer... he is another chameleon... not quite as changeable as Depp, but still a top class actor.

On a more personal level, I feel that Tom Cruise is cocky and arrogant, and speaks out too much on subjects that he should keep out of (Brooke Shields and pnd) not sure how he would know how it feels to have post natal depression!

Sorry mate, but I think that he stinks as an actor!

I really have to agree with everything that Beth H said. His acting range is very limited. There are so many other truly great actors out there who are not given the credit that they deserve because of substandard actors like Tom Cruise. But do you see them complaining? No because they are truly in the business because they love to perform. Johnny Depp had really no critical acclaim before making the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and he was happy about that. He never wanted to be famous like Tom. He just wanted to make the kind of movies that he liked and if he got some fans out of it that was great but if he didn't who cares. Val Kilmer is the same way! He is making movies right now in New Mexico for free! He doesn't want to be paid for the movies that he is doing now. He just loves to act. But these are the types of actors that most of Hollywood hates because they are perfectionists and do not remove themselves from their characters between takes. Tom Cruise, on the other hand, has made the same movie a dozen times and has never pushed his acting talents. He is just an arrogant snob who has been given everything to him on a silver platter. This would be one of the reasons why Val Kilmer despises him.

Tom Cruise is a talented actor and has made many popular movies, but I personally don't care to watch him in films. Of the few films I've seen him in, he tends to play a cocky, smart mouth know-it-all. I don't particularly like that type of person, so I don't enjoy watching him play that kind of role. I can't remember the name of the movie, but he played the part of a military lawyer that had a great trial scene. The way he and his defense team nailed this despicable General, was movie magic. I've seen that film twice and Tom Cruise was great in it. He was a cocky, hot-shot lawyer, but he played the part to perfection.

He really isn't that great of an actor.
Most of his movies are the same thing in just a different setting. He played a pilot, a pool player, a bartender, a race car driver, and they were all the same story. Probably more of his movies could go in that list. His best movie to me was Born on the 4th of July.

I never was an uber-fan, but what turned me off was his complete jackassery re Brooke Shields, post-partum depression, Matt Lauer, mental health professionals, and mental illness. The man is not a medical doctor, but has the gall to say he knows better. This is dangerous thinking and could be harmful to someone who doesn't research help for himself.

he's a good actor. I think he's made some wrong choices in his personal life and that reflects how people feel about him.

That whole jumping around on Opera's couch didn't score him any points.

if you take away the glam movies, he is really good about crying on que, very intense looking eyes too. I think he is generally a funny likable guy and people just want to know him.

Please what girl would not want her man jumping on couchs for her!
