they prove that it could!, the movies `arthur` and `coming to america`, in `arthur` the rich guy could afford to go to the ritzy department store where he sees his poor soulmate shoplifting and he could afford to buy her anything she wanted and do what ever but in the end he could also afford to chose which one he really wanted, the girl or the money, and after that he still got both! and in `coming to america` the african prince could afford to come to queens and rent a cheap pad and pretend to be poor and woo the woman of his dreams and in the end he whould choose her but still got both! so what does it all prove?! that money can buy happyness!!!!!!

Money can buy happiness but it can't buy love and everybody believes that love leads to happiness but that is also not true.

Don't take it too seriously, It doesn;t prove anything. Its a movie.
Even with money there are problems and it will help some of the problems go away and some be less of a problem. But there are others that take their place.
