Hi, Im supposed to write a play prompt book on what I'm reading for my playwriting class... are there any examples of one and how to write one? I'm very confused and don't get the basics.

Are you the director's assistant or working stage crew? The other answerer is correct, so I hope you have a script and are very imaginative and visual. I'm not sure how detailed you have to get, but in the real world of theatre you have to remember everything from music cues for the overture to the fade out in the end. There are curtain cues, set pieces, props to place, set pieces to place on and off stage, actors to call, etc.

good luck!

Not sure where you'd find an example of one on line...
A prompt book is just a copy of the script that the director and/or stage manager uses that has all the cues, etc in it.
A prompt book may have mini diagrams of the set so that the blocking can be recorded. It also has all the light/sound queues as well as scene change information.
Depending on which play you're doing, some are much more complicated than others due to the technical elements (or lack thereof.)

A person does something which sets off a chain of events and then (....) happens. Not sure if this question or the person who starred this question is more pathetic.
