I believe many of the words recorded and left in religious documents were written by scientists of some degree or another . To see through the ritual and bull thats goes with most religions we have to understand the scientific fields that the authors were skilled in . For one most scriptures were written by people at a time when only one in ten thousand people could write and they had to be translated into symbolisms that uneducated people could understand . I believe most religions were born out of science, Take Buddism for example , the science of the Chi became Buddism and Hinduism in an effort to teach religiously ingrained and largely uneducated people the science . Science and Religion go hand in hand , religion often is the only recorded history we have . Often it gets used and abused as a means to control the masses through fear and reprisal . Try picking up the latest translation of the bible or ancient texts of whichever faith you behold , read it from the point of view as if you had written it a hundred years in the future and sent it back to yourself , doest matter which chapter , just start reading keeping in mind all of the technologies we have today . It may enlighten you . I believe there is to much physical evidence that suggests we have evolved from a highly intelligent space fairing species . That has returned several times in an effort to educate us . Its easier to believe both from Daniels desciption of the craft and the things he was shown that he experienced some kind of visitation than to believe winged angels floated down to him on a cloud . Even if they did they must have had some awesome science to do that and recorded it for a lot longer than we have been blowing ourselves apart over Gods real name or who his chosen ones are .

Religion of course. Some people might think that some of the religious stuffs don't make sense cause there's no such thing as miracle.

But these are people who haven't explored what religion is about and they defy others' beliefs and they never believed in God.

Well, religion actually has exceeded the intelligence of Science of which of course most are unconscious.

The Holy Qur'an was revealed 1400 years ago and then God has already mentioned the Big Bang Theory and the fetal stages. The non-transgressive bodies of water in the Gibraltar Sill in the Atlantic Ocean was told and many more facts which were discovered by scientist only about 300 years ago.

The wisdom of God has exceeded the wisdom and intelligence of the scientists in combination. God already said that the sun has many rising points each year which was proven by the scientist around 100 years ago. But God mentioned it 1400 years ago in the Holy Qur'an when he revealed it to Prophet Mohammad (SAW). There are scientists who converted to Islam upon coming across these facts in the Holy book. You may dry out the ocean to be used as ink in writing a book, but it could never be better that the Holy Qur'an which contains the complete reference of people's way of life.

I encourage people to search for these facts and believe in miracles. After all, it has been existent only that we disregard them which actually led to our ignorance of the truth cause we are too caught up with the things science has to offer. We forgot that there are still some things more important than what earth has to offer...life after death and paradise...!

It is God's command that human beings should seek knowledge like science and we are witnessing the benefit of it. He quoted that it is important that we seek knowledge from birth to graveyard so He also said that science is essential in our existence, but for me, it could never be more important than the things and blessings He provided already for us.

Well, someone dumb enough to think that dinosaurs and humans lived at the same time (yes, Palin really believes that) isn't expected to have blasts of shining insight coming out of her mouth. She doesn't believe in evolution, so it's probably useless to try and explain to her the usefulness of experimenting on different animals that share the same general makeup as us because she will object that we share anything with them. God created different kinds, and they're all different, remember? You know, I think there are actually a lot of people out there like shawnesty1 above who honestly think that scientists are only concerned with researching and not finding cures because curing a disease means no more money. Nevermind that a research scientist isn't exactly a high paid position, and anyone who finds the cure for AIDS has an easy Nobel Prize (including the ~1.5 million $ prize that comes with it), and ignoring the fame and prestige and ability to demand high paid positions that the guy who found the cure would get. No, these people are so caught up in their little fantasy world that they really believe scientists are suppressing a cure so they can get money by researching it. These people are not concerned with how things work in the real world, they want to live in their fantasy and to hell with anyone who tries to tell them otherwise. I suspect sometimes that people resent science because it produces results, something their beliefs are incapable of doing.

Your premise is false, and you can't answer that question with a poll, especially a poll here. If there is a God with the authority to determine right and wrong, and to determine our ultimate destiny, then it is most important that we learn what God expects of us. Science can't answer that. If there is no God, then religion is an obsolete anachronism. It's worth serious effort to find out where the truth is.

surely that is a point of perspective. different things are important to different people. for allot of people religion is the most important, and if that is what makes everyday a blessing then i will not argue. for others science is the most important thing they want to know how, why, etc. if that works for them then good on them. everyone is different. we are each and everyone, capable of different feelings and that is how it should be. neither should we be judged on that. you can't take a pol on it. we will each make a different decision, when it comes our time to be judged. we decide one thing when we are alive and well, but we have the benefit of a change of mind, that is our greatest gift. we can be contradictory and it only makes our life more interesting.

I find it hard to believe that ANY scientists believe that nonsense.
Fair enough, a couple of hundred years ago, before humans knew much about science, you could forgive people for believing there was some supernatural force responsible for earthquakes, lightning, famine, pestilence etc.
But now we can absolutely prove the causes of these phenomena there is no excuse to believe in an almighty being.
I think a lot of religious belief springs from indoctrination of children. When you are young you believe everything that your parent tells you, and that tends to stick with you into adulthood. It's no coincidence that the children of religious parents are much more likely to be religious themselves.

Well . . . science can explain religion. But can religion explain science? NOT VERY WELL! But it can certainly try science for heresy.

Still, I think religion has worked for millenia to keep people in line and working productively for society. I'm not sure if science could fulfill that role. People are more likely to behave themselves because Someone is watching, rather than "it's good for everyone."

No, I also don't think "most" scientists think it.

And I doubt the whole population of the earth is on Yahoo! answers, and even if they were it's unlikely all of them will weigh in on this trivial matter.

religion is the one that we humans made, but science already
exists. religion has the tendency to change but science it is universal and intellectual... so science is important..
for example science tells us that methane is poisonous to respire, so we are avoiding it and we are safe from some harmful things, but religion doesnt says...
as the coin has two sides science also has some bad ones
like nuclear weapons, and so on.. but it is actually now being used as weapon for religious fights...
