If Lewis Hamilton is the best thing in the 'sport' at the moment because he's the 'best driver' then why shouldn't he 'race' in a super aguri car next season?
What i'm trying to say is that because it seems that only ferraris and mclarens win the races, isn't it the car manufacturer you're cheering?
Jenson Button and David Coulthard still 'race' in formula 1 but they've not even been close so, really, what's the point in Formula 1?

To blue angel.
They stay on because of the 'passion' they have?
So it's nothing to do with the £multi million salary then?

F1 is all about speed, team spirit and co-operation. People either support the driver or the team, I haven't came across anyone supporting the car manufacturer. Button and Coulthard are in the sport because they love it.
The point of F1 is to compete and be the best. Some drivers are considered 'old' to be in F1 (like Barrichello, Coulthard and Fisichella) but they stay on because of the passion they have.

I'm not really supporting a particular team. More of driver. It takes some time for teams to eally grow and head towards being one of the best teams in F1. When Schumi first joined Ferrari, theywere nowhere at the front. It takes time and hard work. It is also possible for a top team to fall backwards. Williams were a top team but sadly they've dropped back. Now they are trying to work their way back up.
F1 is all about racing. A combination of man and machine. Both have to be at their optimum to achive the best results

There's this thing called Word Constructors Championship title. That's for the team
In F1, its a race of both drivers and team.
The difference between super aguri and the top team we see today is not something anyone asked for, but it's something unavoidable, and happens due to the nature of the sports.
The only way to make all team the same is to well, go race in A1 gp instead. Everyone gets the same car...
If F1, it's a race of building the fastest car off track, and drive your fastest car to the finish line ahead of everyone on track.

hey where have you been for the last decade lol. McLaren have hardly won anything since Mika had the championship. it's been dominated by Ferrari's and the last 2 years by Fernando in his Renault!!!!! Hamilton is a breath of fresh air, and next year when all this spygate is over and done with then McLaren will be back at the top again.

I totally agree, i think the cars have a lot to do with it, but the drivers do a help a little as well. Let them all race in the same car and see who wins.
To see who the best driver is the 'the race of champions' is best. Different drivers from different motor sports (rally, formula one, etc) race in the same cars round a purpose built circuit.

Are you forgetting last season, when Renault won the championship with Alonso. This season they were nowhere near as good, so you could argue that was purely down to the driver.

mate, you are forgetting that a sporting event is as much as a branding exercise. sponsors are paying massive sponsorship money to get their brands on winning teams/cars just to get exposure and eyeballs.
of course, if there are more than 1 contender, the interest will rise. throw in some more scandals and the sports is buzzing.

So Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea - they are always going to win - so what's the point in football? It's the same thing.
