I mean what sounds cute on a baby/toddler might sound downright awful and silly on a 50 year old businessman or woman! Or a politician or a High Court Judge. Which is what those babies may well one day grow up to be!

When people choose these "cutesy" names for their little ones do they ever give any thought to that?

I mean, rather than call your child "Jamie" or "Billy" or "Tommy" or "Charlie" doesn't it sound better to name them "James", "William", "Thomas", "Charles" etc. You can use the short form when they're little and they have the good solid full version for when they are older! I never understand that some people don't seem to see this!

almartin - if you called "Joe" in a school these days you wouldn't get many children turning around! On the other hand if you called "Aiden" or "Joshua" or "Connor" you'd get five of six. I live in a small village and I know 4 little boys called "Connor"!!!

No, because times change and names do too.
Wheres William and Daniel are popular names for 50 year old business men now... when our children are older, all the names would change again.

Years ago everyone was called Albert, Jeffery and George... but peoples taste change. And rather than there be one 'business man' called Charlie.... there will be abother called Cohen or Jayden.

I know a property developer who is one of my clients, and hes a millionaire... his name: Jamie.

Times have changed and the norm for names will too...

We really haven't though about what the little person will be like when they are fifty but we didn't want to got to their school and call out their name and have 50 children turn around so we went with:

Beau-Keith for our son
and for our newly arrived daughter we went with Bridget, both names are good names and suit both of our children.

I heard some where that children choose their names before they are conceived, there fore choosing the parents at the same time.

I always thought how the name would sound later and what is could get mixed with for school age and teasing. But I also do not like the plain names so all my kids names are different. I just don't like the fact of them being somewhere and hey Joe gets called out and 6 boys named Joe turn around.

Some people put yeas in to thinking of names they want for their children
In 6th grade I knew I wanted a boy named Erik

Concerning kid like names. You might have a Tommy, but when he goes to high school, he asks family and friends to call him Tom. Or Danny - Dan, etc

We did have a president named Jimmy.
And one named Ronnie

I sure would be cautious with names like Suzzie.....name the kids Suzann and call her Suzzie. when she gets older she has the option to me Suzann

It is trendy to name kids names that arn't average names.
Lets say a person names their son Edburktis James.
As he is older he might choose to be called by his middle name James. or use a shortened name from his big first name.......Ed

Most parents won't to have a name for there baby. They search through book with names. Lot of parents now can find out if they are going to have a girl or boy and will go ahead and pick out a name for there new born. Some parent's want to name there baby's after there parents. Or give them part of there names.
Good luck.

Some people are nice enough to the kids to think about that but some parents just have bad taste in names n dont worry about if there kid will be made fun of wen older wen they choose thier baby's name. I personally will think it all out.

Mature couples do. The best advice is to picture the name printed out on a business card! Cutesy then just doesn't cut it.
