America was named after Columbus's Navigator Amerigos Vesspucci. And from the naming of the continent to the founding of the USA, America has been incredibly violent. It is guilty of 2 of the most devastating genocides ever undertaken -- both with the extermination of the pre-American aboriginals as well as the millions of Africans in the middle passage and then in slavery. And make no doubt -- this is the same foundation for a government. There have been reforms, but it is still operating on the same driving principles and when you look at Andrew Jackson on the $20, you might as well be looking at Hitler.

Speaking of Hitler... Many prominent Americans were involved with founding the Nazi party (like Senator Prescott Bush, Henry Ford, and the CEO of IBM). They have also funded several other tyrants throughout history as well (including Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden).

The USA is the only to use an Atomic weapon in war and the use of that weapon was very controversial (it was not necessary to end the war as many suggested but was dropped as a test, a warning, and (last but certainly not least) to avoid having to split and share Japan with the USSR (as they had to with Germany).

The Vietnam Conflict is a classic example of unnecessary US violence directed at poor people on the other side of the globe who didn't even have any resources. Their crime was electing a popular government that opposed the US. Because of this some, like Noam Chomsky, have suggested that the USA won the Vietnam war because it quashed the threat of a good example.

The USA spends more money on Defense than every other nation combined and is the primary arms dealer to the world.

More people are in jail in the US (in total numbers and per capita) than in any other nation on Earth.

Gun related violence is more common per-capita than in nations with nearly as many guns. Only in nations with hot war zones are there more annual murders (and this includes nations with much larger populations). Such violence is unprecendented in every other so-called first world nation.

The US is the leading consumer of the Earth's resources as it behaves violently towards even the most basic elements of life.

I could go on (and maybe others will fill in the blanks) but I'm hoping this will give you the basic answer to your question.

Oh yeah... don't forget about the War in Iraq and the impending strike on Iran.

Yes, America is a violent society. Probably the MOST violent society. Perhaps even in the entire history of the world.

There's a lot of negativity from "Richie Paine" and, I see it's pasted so, are these his ideas or, someone Else's. I think the smoke from the ciggie in his avatar got in his eyes.

He seems to forget what was going on in Iraq before we went in. What Saddam was doing, the people that were simply disappearing, never to be seen again. A stop over for the worlds terrorists and illegal drug trade.

Where ever Richie is from, in Europe, we, the Americans have in some why helped him. We have stepped in, in every natural disaster there was and, have given aide. We have sent in volunteers from every aspic of life to help those in need.

I was in 'Nam in '65 and '66 I know what was going on over there, do you Richie? I was there for two years in the jungle while my wife and two children suffered at home with no help. It was so we could help a suppressed people from bandits like Ho Chi Mien.

The next time there is a disaster, instead of calling on America to aide you, call in France, the Germans, some other European country. See how fast they get there. We have always been there.

I would like to see what's going to happen to Iraq when we leave them to there new bandits, the El Quada and, what Iran is going to do with his new found Nuclear missiles.

By the way Richie, what have you done for your country? people like you always cry about things, issues and, never give anything. So, I'm asking you my friend, what have you given to aide your country?

Of course we are. We even have a battle hymn for an anthem. Heck, people have been sending death threats over a dog. We kill for parking spots, and will shoot each other over fender benders. Just try to total up all the wars we've had over the last 230 years.

Of course.

See all the shootings in schools, the wars, the physical assaults. And you can't blame the easy access of guns, there are other countries with similarly low requirements for bearing arms.

Don't think so.
They were like everyone else too living in misery out there.
Just blunders and slip-ups with human errors created back in the past being expose in time after the mystery of us-911.
Now that we know the faults.
We try to correct the mess before we Elders leave in time for the good of mankind.
