(^2) means square root or -49x squared (I hope that makes sense)

But if Y= 42080.00

What is X

subtract 42080.00 from both sides
0 = -49x^2+4,606x - 94080
Did you learn how to use the quadratic formula yet?
[-b + or - sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) ] / 2a
-49x^2 + 4,606x - 52,000
in this case, a = - 49, b = 4606, c = - 94080
just plug it in
[-(4606) + or - sqrt((4606)^2 - 4(-49)(-94080))] / 2(-49)
This gives you
[-4606 + or - sqrt(21215236 - 18439680)] / -98
simplifying further
[-4606 + or - sqrt(1666)]/ -98
[-4606 + or - 1666] / -98
You will get 2 solutions, if one of them is negative, you'll want to omit that solution, b/c it seems irrational to have a Negative age
-4606 + 1666 / -98 = 30
-4606 - 1666 / -98 = 64
so it turns out X = 30 and 64
