Last week, I saw an advertisement on recruiting real estate agents online, and signed up for it. Later I was required to pay a fee around $500 to be accepted to work as an agent. Is this reliable or just some kind of fraud?

That's nonsense. I have yet to encounter a real estate firm which charges to accept an agent. Mind you, there WILL be some costs accrued to you at start up, such as business cards, MLS fees, and so on, but to simply charge to take a desk at an agency is nearly unheard of.

Look around for a different agency.

Have you taken you 60+ hours of class room? and your exam? if not, then yes, it's a scam. http://www.montgomery-county-homes.net/
