One of the most striking things about Elijah is that he has no stated ancestry. This is quite unusual in the Old Testament. The Jews were very careful to record ancestry. This has led some scholars to suggest that he might even have been a Gentile

The Bible gives little or no informtion about the prophet Elijah (Eliyahu) - he is described as a"Tishbite" but no place of that name is known from that period. No wife or children are mentioned; his relationship with Elisha is probably more like master and disciple.
