Dogs are great but take a lot of time and energy. You have to spend a lot of time potty training them, letting them out, exercising them, etc. I had rather have a dog however if you don't have time a cat is great too. They are virtually born ready to use a litter box and sleep IS their exercise. A dog is always happy when you come home...they are faithful companions. You are the dogs master. A cat could be the same or they could careless about you coming home. The cat owns you.

it's more a matter of what you can handle right now. I love both too, but can't have dogs where I live. cats are more low maintenance and can be left on their own for a few days at a time with just extra food and water put out for them. A dog needs daily supervision, to be taken out and would gulp down any extra food and water in one sitting, lol. Also, dogs need a yard and room to run around ( I assume we're talking big dogs...small ones are useless...sorry, but true!) and do not belong in apartments, even if allowed.
So, figure out what kind of time, space and energy you have for a pet and go from there.

Depends how much room you have and how much time you have.
If you want a pet that will just be company get a cat.
If you want a pet that will be part of the family - get a dog.
Just remember the breed you get will determine alot too.
We've got 2 cats and 2 dogs - the cats sit on our laps will we watch TV etc, but the dogs are our kids - they go on drives - get played with in the backyard, go to the beach etc
Good luck in your decision

Cat.. was a dog person all my life until 20's when I got my first cat. Lost all interest in having a dog now.
Plus with a cat instead of a dog, you don't get your shoes eaten, crap all over the floor, licked in the face right after it drank out of the toilet or just finished licking itself... AND, no walks when it is 03° or 98° outside or pouring down the rain/snow.

We have (8) dogs. There's your answer.
It is quite obvious that Sandra G has never met 2 of our dogs, Kevin & Mike. They are our 6 month old Black Pugs. Sometimes the way they tear *** around the house & yard, it's hard to not think of them as at least being possessed. HA HA HA!!!

They are both so fun! Get a cat if you want to be owned. Get a dog if you want to be mommy.
