I've always used an armpit thermometer, even a mercury one, as it was impossible to use a rectal one and not safe to use an oral. It is much faster if the thermometer is digital and even though it might be a challenge to keep your 15-month-old still for 1 minute, it is not impossible. Undress your daugther on one side to be able to put the thermometer snugly underthe armpit, put her on your lap with her back to your tummy (I know it's hard when you are THAT pregnant), cross your arms in front of her and hold tight if you have to. It's better if you can distract her attention with a movie or a song so she can stand still and not cry as it may raise her temperature some. But even in that case you will get an approximate reading that will be enough for you to know if she needs a fever medication.
