Two years ago Chad was rumored to got to Chicago, once it was found out that Herm Edwards was leaving, for a 3rd round draft pick but the Jets declined : offer to low. Now it looks like the Jets and Bears are going to deal. Chad in Chicago is a great idea for the Bears but really bad for the Jets. Chad in Chicago will solidify the QB stop for, at the very least, 3 years and would put brains in the O - Rex and Brian too dumb. Chad is 1st round draft pick who has had his problems but is a proven starter compared to what is out there in the off season and 09 draft. The Bears are a good team but their too good. 2nd round or even a 1st will be too low to get anyone good enough in the upcoming draft and the Jets backup, still has happy feet in the pocket and the disease of fumblitis when ever he gets hit.
1 soution is to keep Chad a backup and trade him mid-season of 09. The talent at backup is too old, too young or too dumb at the QB spot in the NFL.
Trade Good idea or bad for Jets?

We'll send you TrainRex for a mid-draft pick, you can keep Chad as a backup. TrainRex would certainly be an upgrade over Chad for the Jets

OMG! Is this a good deal?! Blazes NO!!!! Both Rex and Chad are the most injury-prone talent-laden-talent-wasted QB's I've ever seen. They would have blossomed early if A) They stay on their feet, and B) Had a good QB Coach (i.e. Martz or Holmgren.) Now it's too late for either to flourish, and wating any draft pick for a QB that's already in the same boat as Wrecks Grossman is a waste of good talent waiting in the wings. Griese is doing fine, not great, but steady. At least the turnovers are beginning to cease, and once he gets a little fan-approval and team-approval (like Kid Orten did), they'll do just fine. Besides, he's still got a few good years in him. Dump Wrecks, forget Chad, and draft a good QB out of college and have Brian teach him.

I completely agree with skatters. Griese is doing fine right now. You have to look at how rusty he is from sitting out so long. He's not the best QB in the league, but I'd trust him over Rex or Chad. Try picking up a QB out of college within the next few years and then you can slowly work him into the lineup and have someone who's been to the super bowl there to show him the ropes.

Chad's not "durable" enough to be a 16 game starter!! He'd be an excellent "back-up, wherever he goes. He's NOT "old", just not solid enough for a full season.
A "better" candidate for the Bears would be J.P.Lohsman, from the Bills.Whatever his problems, he's a big "up-grade" over "train-Rex"!! The Bills look to be doing "fine" with Trent Edwards.

Chad's throwing arm is like cooked spaghetti and he is the last thing the Bears need at QB. I say give Brian Griese the starters job to lose.

BAD IDEA! Pennington is injury prone and has a below average arm. At best he can manage a game. If that's all the Bears are looking for, they should go back to Kyle Orton, who led them to a 13-3 record two years ago, only to be replaced in the playoffs by Grossman.
