I like to go to the movies with a friend of mine every two weeks or so. My mom mentioned that it might not be appropriate for me to hang out with Jeff when I get married. She said "If you marry Margaret, will you still be going to the movies with Jeff?", and gave me that 'No' look. I thought that this was crazy, because married people have always had friends of the same gender. It's not like Jeff and I go out drinking, or to stripper clubs or anything. Now if my friend was female, then I'd understand. Seriously, would most spouses have a problem with their husband or wife going to the movies with an old friend every other weekend? Heck, even my mom goes out to eat with friends from work, and my dad has his golf league.

I asked her about it again, and she brushed it off (as if she changed her mind). I sure wouldn't want to get married if I can't even go to the movies with my best friend once every couple weeks or so.

It is perfectly normal for married people to have their own friends. What is not normal if for people to get married and then suddenly their entire world revolves around their spouse. It is good for couple to spend time apart, it keeps you from getting burned out by all the togetherness and keeps you both interesting people. don't worry about your mom, she probably doesn't understand you need some down time.

No, they must achieve this quietly :P Yes, they must be allowed to marry and feature kids in view that they're average folks (good, so much of them are, besides). Denying identical-intercourse marriage is taking rights away which might be routinely given to heterosexual couples which might be both married or had been cohabiting for decades. Quite a couple of stories have proven that homosexual couples carry extra balanced kids, so I may not deny them the proper to ship well folks into the sector. Also, the "father and mother are homosexual, so kids will likely be too" argument is nonsense.

As long as you are the same sex then there is no reason why you can't go out together that's just crazy to think that way and i don't blame you for not wanting to marry if you can't go out with a friend or two.

That's not true, I've been married for 4 years and my husband still goes out with his friends. And I hang out with my friends too, most of the time we hang out with couples, but it's not mandatory or anything.
Maybe she was wondering if you new wife would "let" you go out.

Those are things that you need to talk to your g/f about.
Those are things you need to discuss and find out how each other feels about it.
Its called making sure that its the right person. :)
Some couples do things like that while others really dont care much about it.
