They can't. They don't play defense. Haven't you seen the young PGs like Parker (Spurs), Paul (Hornets), Williams (Jazz), Arenas (Wizards) tear them up? Nash doesn't defend and he doesn't get help defense from Stoudemire. Shawn Marion and Raja Bell can only do so much.

The Suns just can't beat the Spurs when it matters. They can beat the Spurs in the regular season, but we all know the regular season means nothing to the Spurs. It's the playoffs that really counts and so far, the Suns are 0-2 in Playoff series victories over the Spurs (03 and 07 championships).

Plus, the Suns lost Kurt Thomas, who was supposed to be Duncan's primary defender (hell of a job he did, Tim still got double-doubles). They added Grant Hill but how can he keep running the high octane Suns' offense with injuries?

Even if Amare develops into a better defender, he can't contain Duncan for an entire series. Not to mention Ginobili and Parker getting to the paint and drawing fouls from Amare.

Nope, I just can't see the Suns beat the Spurs in a 7 game series.

What do you mean the Suns kept the Spurs to 84? The spurs love to average points from 70 to 90, they don't like playing 100pt games, which is why they keep teams like the Suns from scoring alot. What is impressive to me is that the Spurs kept the Suns at a season low 81pts. I'll give you this if the Suns do get a 100pts in a game against the Spurs, their chances of winning do get better(which is why the Mavs beat them in game 7 in OT). I also loved how the game last night was a bit dirty, seeing as how most of the key players of their respective teams were in foul trouble.

the Suns have 1 chance to beat the Spurs....teach Nash how to play Bruce Bowen style defense. otherwise he'll remain a liability on defense. when he's on the floor, there is ALWAYS a mismatch somewhere. you can't beat a machine like the Spurs when you can't play defense. you just can't. you can stop Duncan, and Manu if you like....but what you gonna do with Tony Parker? he dismantled the Suns with constant penetrating, and constantly beating Nash off the dribble, to the point that Marion had to pick him up. Now who is Nash gonna hold?

so you see ladies and gentlemen....THAT is why the Suns will NEVER beat the Spurs!

Like Bowen said, Offence wins games, but Defence wins Championships. I am a Suns fan, and I think that slowing down Ginobli and Parker is the only way. Spurs don't score alot because they dont need to, but Suns, regardless of opponent, they can score on anyone. Duncan is the best PF in the game right now and I don't think there are many who can stop him, no one on the Suns right now can stop him, so they have to stop parker or ginobli. Yes, Duncan can score, but if you are able to stop both ginobli and parker, Duncan would not be able to pick up the scoring of those two all by himself, and unlike Duncan, we do have to tools to stop Ginobli and Parker. Marion on Ginobli and DJ/Banks on Parker.

They would have to shut down Duncan, Parker AND Ginobobli as well as outplaying SA's deep bench. However, we all know Spurs never win in even years, so this year's Suns and Mavericks have a very good chance of making it to the finals.
