The monster under your bed?

I have something against propaganda.

Sure, Mahal, why don't you do exactly that. I'd like to know if you think the PKK are "Islamofascists", for example.

First time I've heard Libya described as fascist.

No, "Islamo-fascism" is an oxymoron. Fascism is an authoritarian ideology adopting a joint corporate-state structure that advocates a caste system within society.

Since Islamic extremists are vehemently opposed to any man-made governments and prefer a religious theocracy under shariah law, it's rather illogical to consider them "fascist" in any sense. Such a term is just another meme to scare a gullible public and fuel anti-Muslim sentiment within Western society.

Regan ran off the communists that were behind the trees. Flourine in the drinking water is toxic, but of no real danger at the levels found in the water. The monster under my bed is mikey from Monsters Inc. (daughter left it there). As far as islamofascism, it exists. Look at the governments of countries such as lybia and Iran. They are definitely fascist in their structure, they also recognize a national religion (islam) which they use as an excuse for their policies of world aggression. Ignoring a problem wont make it go away. England and much of europe tried that with hitler in WW II. As the result, millions of lives were lost retaking a europe that never should have been conquered in the first place. Better to be proactive than to wait for the invading hoards to arrive at the door.

What's hilarious about all of this is that the Ba'ath Party, such as existed in Iraq before March,2003 and exists in Syria, was founded on fascist principles in the late 1840's by former Arabic allies of the Germans.the Ba'athists are anything but religious, except when it suits their propaganda.

So you do have a valid point. But propaganda is most easily utilized on a nation like ours, where the populace has been conditioned to believe that we are right,no matter any evidence to the contrary.

The use of the term, Islamofascism, certainly is controversial.

The issue may be reduced to "Does Bin Ladenism or Salafism or whatever we agree to call it have anything in common with fascism?"

"The most obvious points of comparison would be these:

Both movements are based on a cult of murderous violence that exalts death and destruction and despises the life of the mind. ("Death to the intellect! Long live death!" as Gen. Francisco Franco's sidekick Gonzalo Queipo de Llano so pithily phrased it.) Both are hostile to modernity (except when it comes to the pursuit of weapons), and both are bitterly nostalgic for past empires and lost glories. Both are obsessed with real and imagined "humiliations" and thirsty for revenge. Both are chronically infected with the toxin of anti-Jewish paranoia (interestingly, also, with its milder cousin, anti-Freemason paranoia). Both are inclined to leader worship and to the exclusive stress on the power of one great book. Both have a strong commitment to sexual repression—especially to the repression of any sexual "deviance"—and to its counterparts the subordination of the female and contempt for the feminine. Both despise art and literature as symptoms of degeneracy and decadence; both burn books and destroy museums and treasures. "

(quoted excerpts from http://www.slate.com/id/2176389/ )

" ... al-Qaida's demand is that countries like Iraq and Saudi Arabia be dissolved into one great revived caliphate, but doesn't this have points of resemblance with the mad scheme of a "Greater Germany" or with Mussolini's fantasy of a revived Roman empire?

Technically, no form of Islam preaches racial superiority or proposes a master race. But in practice, Islamic fanatics operate a fascistic concept of the "pure" and the "exclusive" over the unclean and the kufar or profane."

The above is convincing enough to give validity and usage appropriateness to the term Islamofascism when used descriptively for extremist Islamism.

Believe it or not!

There's a lot to be said for exaggerating the problem at hand with those that do not exist . They distract - do they not ?
It looks here , like , with this reasoning ..if monsters aren't real ..if a communist isn't behind every tree ; if kryptonite isn't in the water..then ..oh..I don't know..maybe it all must mean..Islamofascism is a myth ? Funny..but no cigar .

Yes, there are plenty of myths that people take as truisms.
But there is an astinishing resemblance between Islamic fundamentalism and the fascism of Nazi Germany if you bother to read your history books. Racism, intimidation by murder and terrorism, the chosen race/religion etc.

I'm not sure how you define that. I seriously do believe there is a small percentage of Muslims that actively want to enforce Sharia law on the rest of the world, and see western countries like the USA, UK, etc. as evil countries.

You can already see the effects of it. Western media is afraid to do anything that might piss off the Muslims and get themselves killed by fatwa. That same media has no fear of pissing off Christians and Jews. Just look at the giant hullaballo over those stupid Mohammad cartoons.

Those same radical muslims have no problem carrying out bombings all over the world against innocent targets. We in the US only saw the tip of the iceberg. Other nations have to deal with these attacks all the time.

Good point, you know in the past US was actually very pleased that most countries neighboring Soviet Union were Islamic. Why, bcoz Islam is pro Capitalism, and against Communism. But now like many other fancy terms that was discovered by bush and cheney like, Terror Alert Level, or OBL, WMD the Islam is now Fascism ?
What a difference few years make, just a little >>>>>>>!!???
Best Regards.

Edit: lol! a book written by some one who was inside a building when got burned down ?? I think that would be a little biased ??!!lol. You know i don't understand people think they can fool other people by posting many sites, that proves they are right? lol, but they won't mention any site opposing their idea? 1terrorist killed another, two Muslims died in a head on collusion, ? so they are fascist and terrorist!!?? but we dropped A bombs on Japan and vaporizing 200,000 people is justify bcoz that saved lives of 1 million of our troops??
well by that logic then let's drop 2 on Israel to save the life of Over a billion Muslims ?? don't try to fool me, with your data and your logic, it won't work??
BTW: I love and respect all the citizens of Israel, i have many friends over in Israel, people of Israel deserve to have their own safe country to live in peace, and no one should harm them. Please disregard the above example, but i do believe that US GOV is putting the people of Israel at risk, by it's dirty politics and actions.
BTW: OBL has rejected his involvement in 911 and his orders to kill Americans , i did not believe that initially but now i am getting more evidence that is very close to prove it to me.
And OBL asking Americans to convert to Islam, lol, it is very funny actually, that is not true ?? lmao, no more comments??!!

Calling Islamofascism a myth,is about the same as calling the existence of the Sun a myth. Both make themselves seen to the whole world everyday, and the only way a person can miss them is to close their eyes to the world.

no it is just a catchy label.

added. It is hard to believe there is a real war on terror when we are supporting MEK. In case anyone don't know, they were involved in the 1979 hostage taking, but got upset at the results. Saddam hired them for dirty deeds and now the US is supporting them for their goal of overthrowing Irans government. PKK does not concern us much, they too are attacking Iran. Iran helped us overthrow the taliban and is helping rebuild Afghanistan, yet we decided the best course was to label them part of an axis of evil. which resulted in ahmadinejad getting elected.
