I just took a home pregnancy test and it came back with a faint (but definately there) positive line. It's only been 13 days since I would have conceived and I haven't even missed my period yet, I shouldn't start for another 4 or 5 days. I took the pregnancy test because i've been having really bad acid reflux and upset stomach for the last week, but I didn't expect it to actually come back positive. I also had a little cramping which I thought was weird because I don't usually get that until the day before I start my period. I am really trying to not get my hopes up because I've had problems trying to get pregnant and I've been let down before. Is 13 days too early to tell?? Should I go to the doctor tomorrow or wait a few more days?

Thanks!!!

How soon can I test? Well, first you gotta know how the test works. Briefly: the home pregnancy test (HPT) works by detecting a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG.) When an egg is fertilized, it takes about 6 to 12 days to implant in the uterus, and then it begins to secrete hCG. It takes another day or two for enough hCG to build up and make its way into your pee. So, generally speaking, the earliest you can expect a positive HPT is 8 days past ovulation ("DPO") and the latest would be about 16 DPO. It is possible to get a positive test earlier or later, but not as common. In my experience, if you use a sensitive "early" test (anything that detects 25 mIU/mL of hCG or less) you can test around 12-14 DPO and feel reasonably secure with your results (the later you test, the more secure you can feel in its accuracy.)

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

13 Days Pregnant

CONGRATS!!!!! It is not too early to tell. If you test tomarow using first mornings urine it will probably show more clearly. Implantation takes place around 7 days after ovulation and hsg levels about double daily during this time. If you want to test again first you can save your first morning urine (refrigerated) until you go and get one. Yes, go to the Dr. tomarow. A + is a +!!!

If you like you can brouse fertilityfriend.com and look at other ladies charts where others have tested at 10 dpo and look at pics of tests at that early at the chart gallery and the test gallerys.

It is very unlikely that you are not pregnant if you got a positive result and you administered the test correctly. Call your doctor and get a blood test done.

there is such a thing as a false positive (very rare, but it happens) so give it a few more days, maybe a week or so, and take another test, if it comes back positive, then go to the doctor.

even if its faint and the test was checked within ten minutes ...it means you are pregnent .....congrats..................... in a few days time as the preg hormone doubles every day for the first trimester if you do another test it will be stronger ........get your self in for a blood test........again congrats!!!!!!
