Full Sun is that absolute best condition for poppies. Aside from that poppies don't require anything special. The seed starts easily and can just be broadcast across the soil and they will germinate right where they lay. However, be aware that poppies are usually done by mid summer and are the first to die back so if you are going to plant poppies make sure you fill in with other annuals or perennials so you won't have a barren bed when they are gone.
Good Luck
