Einaudi is a pop performer - in this category we are concerned with classical music. None of Einaudi's music is classical, so he does not qualify. Maksim does not really count as a classical pianist either. The choice of best living concert pianist is highly subjective, but a few that warrant consideration are: Marc Andre Hamelin Arcadi Volodos Maurizio Pollini Murray Perahia Krystian Zimerman Vladimir Ashkenazy Alfred Brendel Ivo Pogorelich Martha Argerich Edit: The piano is most definitely NOT a classical instrument (otherwise how would Elton John, Jerry Lee Lewis and Liberace be playing it). Musical genres are determined by their form, not the instruments playing the music. And NO, Einaudi is NOT a classical pianist. The fact that he is heard on Classic FM means nothing... Classic FM plays lots of music that isn't classical and Einaudi is demonstrative of this fact.

Arcadi Volodos (King of overdoing it! Probably my favorite)
Valentina Lisitsa (God-Like)
Evgeny Kissin (Funniest Hair! And still quite young)
Lang Lang (Complete nut)
Yundi Li
Sean Bennett (Also a scientist)

I saw a YouTube of Leonard Bernstein playing Rhapsody in Blue. that was nice.

And I really like Andre Previn, too.

My favorite is Ahmad Jamal. I don't know if he plays classical music, but I bet it would be great if he did, because I think even the piano likes it when he plays.
