Then the other one is on the volume of the solid 12in, 6in, 6in.

Please help I am very confused, I am looking at my class book and just don't get it for some reason.

You really haven't said enough about the the shapes/solids.
The quadrilateral could be any shape, even if you have the lengths in order.
The solid is some sort of prism, I think. But more info is needed to answer this question.

The first figure is a trapezoid and the area of the same is 63.6396 (correct upto 4 places after decimal) sq ft. The height of the trapezoid is 10x (square root of 2)ft while the sides are 40ft and 50ft. Formula is A=(h/2)x(b1+b2)

The second figure is a cuboid with length=12", height = 6" and breadth = 6 ". So the volume is simple lxbxh, i.e., 432 cubic inches. You may also convert the same in cubic feet by dividing each l, b and h by 12. So, in cubic feet, the answer would be (432)/(12x12x12), i.e., 0.25 cubic ft or 1/4 cubic feet.
