The Philippines is classified as a "developing country", while the most sticky label attaced to us is that we are Third World.

In terms of economic performance, even international Finance experts applaud our good economic achievement in the last couple of years, in spite of the chaotic political conditions.

All the salient economic indicators are in the attched link:

I am told the average income of a Filipino worker is $700 annually. That does not sound good.....but it gets worse.

An average is determined by taking total wages and dividing it by the workforce......considering there is a large faction of the workforce that earns thousands of dollars each month.....there must be a huge number of people who earn almost nothing. There are also serious problems with SSI and retirement programs. Most employers fire their employees every 5 months to avoid paying SSI and creating a permanent employee.

As a nation the Philippines seems to be doing well.....while the falling dollar has caused 200+ businesses in Manila alone to close.....there is over 20 billion dollars delivered to the general population by OSW annually.....in Dumaguete City there is construction on every street.....business is booming.....Robinson's will soon open a new mall.....they delayed completion because they had so many people seeking to open businesses....they had to expand construction.....
There maybe other parts of the Philippines not doing as well......but Oriental ****** is booming

given that the dollar-peso exchange rate today is $46-P1, it should say a lot about getting better compared to the previous years when it was $56-P1, right?

the only problem is, the people still can't feel about this development since the prices of the goods, even the basic ones, are still continuously rising.

tsk tsk!
