I think that trust is defiantely something that you have to gain. If I've known someone for a long time and feel that I still cannot trust them then yes I somewhat shelter myself away from them and start spending less time with them. You get one life and friends are a big part of it. They are the ones to go to for advice, they are the ones that pick you up when you are down and they are the ones to make you laugh and smile and make memories with. You better believe if I cannot trust them then they will not be a part of my life.

No, my trust issues keep me from being willing to try another relationship, there would be no relationship if there was no trust!!

I did once, but I learned my lesson. My ex-girlfriend isn't allowed to be my friend because her current boyfriend can't stand the thought of us being friends, and that messed up our relationship. Bros before hoes!
But yes, without trust the relationship will fail. As soon as you loose trust you better cut and run.

I dated someone who did cheat and i pretty much took out on the guy i dated after that. He did not cheat, but did break up with me. I can not blame him for that. I had to take a long look at what i was doing and realized i was in the wrong. I called my ex and told him how sorry i was and he was understanding. we did work things out and now i do not let the cheating ex get to me.

yes, but then I found a guy who let me build our relationship up instead of getting upset that I have had trust issues. he was patient with me . . . that is hard to find in a man :)

Always. I mean, my "trust is overrated" speech seldom comes across right on first dates, so I've limited my dating to Chat lines for now. Works for me.
