The bias is not in favor of Michigan at all. If it had been any other team, they would have gotten back to the rankings before having to win 4-5 games in a row...and, in fact, crap-@ss teams have gotten into the rankings after winning ONE game they weren't expected to win. For other teams, all it takes is one game over a ranked team, even if the win isn't that great. Michigan had to beat down #10 Penn State and an impressive win over a ranked Purdue first. Oregon wouldn't be where it is today had they not beaten Michigan, and people don't want to see that Oregon is a top team this year...it makes sense Michigan lost to them. Oregon burst into the rankings at #19 for beating a Michigan that nobody respected. How does that make sense? Aside from S. Car., no SEC team falls like Michigan and Wisconsin did when they lost. As mentioned, USC didn't get all that punished for losing to Stanford.
I guess a lot of people think that if you lose to a team that's in a lower division, you shouldn't be ranked again at all that season. In Michigan's case, it's a team that, generally, half the country is overrating and the other half is under-rating anyways. Half love Michigan, half love to hate Michigan. Now you have a lot more people underrating them after the first two losses when all the pre-season hype was some of their faults to begin with. I haven't seen that many people upset, but watch what happens as Michigan goes towards the top 10...people will FLIP OUT. Mind you, lots of these people don't watch Michigan play, so they don't understand that this is not the same Michigan as earlier this season...and those first two losses are the main reasons why.
And in the SEC...some of those teams are even cupcake, but nobody wants to admit that. They only want to focus on best vs best. Well, there are really only three strong teams in the SEC right now...all of them have lost games. Two or three of the SEC's teams are beatable by most anybody in the Big Ten. So, no, we're not scared, and we don't think the SEC would beat us in every or even most games on a neutral field.

Hey Jeeps, he is talking about scheduling them durring the regular season, not a game that is created a couple of weeks in advance to decide a national championship. I think that this question goes both ways. If a powerhouse big ten school was to schedule a power in the SEC, the AD's job would be in jeopardy. And the same goes the other way. Lets just day we all were lucky when OSU had Texas on their schedule the past 2 years, but that was decided years in advance.
I also agree that there is a lot of bias whenever you let people decide the top teams in the country. I mean that LSU only dropped to 4th after losing to UK. I know that Kentucky was 17th in the nation, but it was the voters that put tLSU back in the top 5.

Personally I don't have a problem with them coming back into the rankings. Yeah they lost the first two. Then they started winning. The other teams started losing. I mean I guess people think that every other team should lose 3 or 4 games before Michigan even comes on again. I understand they lost to Appy State, BUT Appy State was the 2 time defending Division 1AA(or FCS) Champion. They weren't just any old Div. 1AA, although I was one of the ones defending that after the loss.

Florida plays a cupcake nonconference schedule? Who scheduled Applachian State and Notre Dame....and then got beat by one of those cupcakes. I like Michigan, they're my favorite Big 10 team, but don't accuse other teams of playing cupcake schedules when Michigan's is one of the softest in the nation this year. To use your words, Florida is just playing the schedule put in front of them. You ask how come SEC teams never come up to Big 10 country, well I'd like to ask how come ya'll never come down here...cuts both ways. We already know what happens when your best plays our best on a neutral field. I'm for Michigan being ranked and contuing to climb in the polls and I pray to God that they beat the stew out of OSU, I just happen to think you're pointing out flaws in other schools when your school is guilty of those same flaws.

BOOOOOO!!!! they don't deserve it. If Auburn who lost USF and Mississippi State and the no.3 LSU Tigers ain't ranked then those sucky Michigan Nobodies shouldn't be ranked either. PS Kentucky ain't no cupcake, I'd like to see Micigan beat us. and one more thing these so called cupcakes? USF, Louisville, Florida State, Kansas State, Memphis, Cal, FSU again, and West Virginia. Now tell me their not better than Youngtown State and App State.

you know... i have to agree with you. USC only dropped to 13th because of a few reasons:
they lost to a division 1 team
and they're usc. that said, ohio state plays cupcakes all year too. pac 10 only gets respect because of usc. and of course SEC isn't the best. Big Ten is really good mostly because they have a lot of huge football fans... like in nebraska, some people's fathers have missed their wedding because it was on game day (ouch). so they simply have their young boys all out playing football and becoming great football players.
oh yeah. LSU is overrated. they lost to a team 17 rankings below them (granted, in triple overtime) and went down what 3? still in the top freaking five!!! their coach is also very arrogant, and has said that USC had an easier schedule because they played "cal and the likes". frankly, the pac 10 isn't just about cal and usc. and les miles is a self centered arrogant .... person.

They began with a high pre-season ranking (as always)... Got embarrassed at home by a Div 1-AA school, proving they have no heart and no pride... Got destroyed at home by Oregon.
Sure they've won out since, but with NO quality wins, except Penn State, and let me remind you that U of M cheated, using inelidgible players and almost (and should've) had to forfeit that win. And for the record, I am not an Ohio State fan. U of M is just OVER-RATED!!!

Its silly getting all in a froth over a two loss team being ranked 19 or 20 or whatever. UM had a nightmare of a start and are trying to salvage the season. For that they get a load of crap? Its a game played by college kids. Relax. Enjoy. Have no fear.....there is zero chance UM and OSU will meet in the BCS championship game.

They lost at HOME to App state (still funny even now) and got crushed at HOME by Oregon. Crushed. Just be happy they're even in the top 25 and see what happens. The way the season is going, they could end up in a BCS bowl.
