The clips I've seen on TV and the pictures on AOL news are just devastating. My heart goes out to those people who've lost all their possessions. Thank goodness they escaped with their lives.

Maw-Maw -- You're so right. In our prayers, we mustn't forget the brave men and women fighting this nightmare.

Hi Everybody!

I live right in the middle of all of this at the base of the San Bernardino mountains. It's not pretty right now.

The last count I've heard is that we've lost 128 homes at Lake Arrowhead and there's no count on loss at Green Valley Lake, which is between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake. They just had a couple of big fires up at Big Bear last month. I just heard another fire is going on in our Lytle Creek area.

My cousin lives down in San Diego County and I'm still waiting to hear from him. Whoops, just got a call from him and he's OK.

The last time we had fires this bad was in 2003. At that time, we had many homes burned down on the North side of the city of San Bernardino because we sit right at the base of the mountains. We have a particulate warning out right now all over Southern California. As the fires burn, these particulates go into the air and when you breathe them, they go deep into your lungs, causing who know's what, and how far down the line in your life.

Goldwing's out there in Orange County and it's bad out there, too.

Here in San Bernardino, we have one of two major exits from Southern California in Highway 15. It's been closed since yesterday, both ways, due to fires on both sides of the Freeway. These Santa Ana's are supposed to be with us until Wednesday.

We need your prayers out here.

I'm hoping and praying the winds will ease up, but the predictions I've just read say that the Santa Ana winds will continue for at least a few more days. Terms like "hurricane force" winds were used. No wonder the fires are moving so quickly! There were more evacuations called last night in San Diego County...including the entire town of Ramona. They are using reverse 9-1-1 to alert people. There have been injuries, and one death reported. I don't think there is clear information about the number of homes and other buildings lost yet. The mayor of San Diego said that they expect the fires to head closer to town today....my heart goes out to these people!

I wasn't even aware of the fire, until someone asked if Poway
should be evacuated. And that struck a familiar bell, since at
one time I wanted to move there near the beach outside of
San Diego.
I haven't seen the news yet to know how far the fires are
burning. I didn't know anyone had lost their homes either.
That is alway so devastating to loose your possessions and
then grieve over the loss like you'd lost a child. I know about
losing possessions. And it's something that stays with you
forever. Since so many are personal that can't be replaced.
I feel so sorry for them all. I hope they all were heavilly insured.

Being October, there will always be the Santa Anas. Seems to be very windy in Mar. or Apr., too. There are just too many fires to believe that they are all caused by the winds... It is just horrible that there is so much devastation going on! I feel so sorry for the people and animals! I'm just hoping that we will have some rain before too long; maybe a couple more weeks, God willing!

Well, we Californians do have our 4 seasons: floods, fires, earthquakes and winds!

How frightening and devastating for everyone. I wonder how long before the fires can be contained. Fires are devastating and move so quickly with the winds. I do hope that no lives will be lost.

After the Hillbilly Hacks of last night, it sounds like we were watching tv instead. I don't know what's worse. Seeing the devastation from around the world at a moments notice is more stressful. I feel so helpless sitting passively by in my safe house watching the suffering caused by nature.

Absolutely unreal...have been watching it on CNN....both on the tv and the the net. Right now they're saying it doesn't look good for tomorrow either and even Tuesday. Extremely high gusts predicted. Sure hope more help is on the way.

Yes, I hope the winds end and they can get those fires out really soon. It must be so terrible for those poor people, I feel really bad for them. A fire like that can consume so much, so quickly.

Yes. I've seen the clips too and I feel for those people. Those winds seem to create havoc almost every year. Sad.
