Christmas is busy, as many tourists come out here during that time. The average temp on xmas day is 74 degrees. Sometimes it's over 80. Many people come out here from the east to enjoy the weather.
Some good days I recommend: Sunday after Thanksgiving. Many of the tourists are heading home and the afternoons are not very crowded then.
New Years day. Same as above.
Super Bowl Sunday. When my kids were younger, we always went on Super Bowl Sunday. The game doesn't start until 4:00, and it's always boring in the first half. Go to D-land early and stay until around 5:00 or 6:00. Then enjoy the second half of the game.

The holiday period between Christmas and New Years is one of the busiest periods of the year. Christmas Day is actually in the top 5 busiest days.
If you want to go in the winter but not necessarily during the holiday period, then go in Mid January. If you want to go during the Holiday period, go in the beginning of December. It will still be busy, but not as busy as later in December.
One correction/addition to Daniel A's answer. There are thousands of people that actually do not watch the Superbowl so they do other things. One of these things is going to Disneyland. Everyone else has the same idea that Disneyland is not as busy on that day. So the result that is the day that everyone shows up. This is actually the same reason that it is busy on Christmas.

Don't do it!! My husband, son, and I went for 5 days the day after Christmas last year. AND SOOOO DID EVERYONE ELSE. For the most part, the whole country of kids has those 2 weeks off school, and apparently they all wanted to goto Disneyland. The park was croweded and lines were horribly long, I will NEVER go during December ever again!!!

Get yourself a copy of "The Unnofficial Guide To Disneyland" at your closest book outlet, and there is a chapter in the book that tells when Disney is the least crowded, etc.
I've never been to Disney Land, but Christmas Day is by far the busiest day of the year at Disney World.
If ya like to be packed in a park like a can of sardines, go on Christmas.

New Years day. comparable as above. great Bowl Sunday. whilst my young ones have been youthful, we continuously went on great Bowl Sunday. the game would not start up till 4:00, and it relatively is often boring interior the 1st a million/2. flow to D-land early and stay till around 5:00 or 6:00. Then take excitement in the 2nd a million/2 of the game.

I don't know about that...keep in mind that both Disney World and Disneyland do Christmas day parades...and the crowds at the parks for the parades are insane! But that is just my opinion.

Even though it's christmas day, i doubt it would be less crowded cuz you're still dealing with winter break... if the reason you'd go during christmas is cuz you're in school, just skip a random day of school and go-- i've done this b4 and it is so fun cuz there's no lines!

According to Scottware.com (and from personal experience), Christmas Day (actually the week of Christmas through New Years) is the busiest time of the year (busier than the 4th of July weekend).
Look at their chart (link below) for more information.

I want to know too because I am going to visit my daughter who lives in Tallahassee and we were planning to take my 12 year old son. We used to live in Florida and we have been there b4, so I would guess it would be less crowded on x mas day. Maybe we will see ya there!

When I was young, I always wanted to go. Now that I'm older, the thought of standing in line for two hours with children who are getting more tired by the minute doesn't appeal to me. Disneyland has become so overcrowded the last few years that it's incomprehensible to me how even children can enjoy it at this point. I think I'll stick to the local amusement parks.
