My truck was almost stolen.
Funny but true story.
It was parked on a hill on the other side of the street (Right side of the street), facing uphill.
We did not have "The Club" on for some reason that night.
The thief popped out the back window of the cab, reached in and pulled up the lock to unlock the door, and got in. He could not break the plastic covering the wires to hotwire it, so he tried to roll it down the hill so he could "pop start" it in reverse (The truck is a stick-shift or standard shift).
Unfortunately the steering wheel locked as he was turning, the truck kept turning backwards, and backed up, across the street and into my next-door neighbor's garage!
Our neighbor knocked on our door to see whose truck it might be (it was late at night) and we went outside to see the damage. The would-be thief was long gone, he left his hat, gloves, and all his tools on the front seat of my truck. I looked for a wet spot, but thankfully found none. The police didn't even bother to try to take fingerprints. I was p.o.'d.
My tailgate was smashed, the bumper was crumpled, the back window of my cab gone, and minor damage to the cab. The insurance paid for everything without a fuss.
The thief actually did my neighbor a favor. My neighbor's garage was all old and messed up, his homeowner's insurance paid for a whole new garage.
Everything turned out just fine - I still have the truck.

No my car has never been stolen. Thank god. I do have an alarm. My mom's car was stolen once before. It was recovered though because she has on star. =]
