I am a 17 year old girl and since I was about 12 I have had those spells where I stand up too quickly and kind of momentarily blackout. I understand why these happen.
However, this past year I have been having different but similar spells. I will stand up quickly, and make it about 10 steps. At this point I will receive the usual blackout but my head will also start to convulse. It will move forward and backward. I will usually also fall painfully, normally into a wall. All in all I'd guess this episode lasts about 3 to 8 seconds. I also find myself thinking inexplicably about a random object or task. Like a deck of cards. Or brushing my teeth. Even if these things had nothing to do with my prior thoughts.
I do have SLIGHTLY low blood pressure, but nothing notable. I eat pretty well and I am very athletic. This is probably nothing but the head shaking and falling worries me. Has anyone experienced the same feeling? Should I just write this off as a drop in blood pressure? Or is it something more serious? Thank you.

This happened to me, you should go to the doctor and get blood tests. I hate needles but it was better to be safe than sorry

But most of the people don't have convulsions and all that other stuff you talked about. It could possibly be a seizure and it sounds like a seizure to me. I have pretty low blood pressure and occasionally black out from standing up too fast, but i've never had convulsions from it. What convinces me that it could be a seizure is the random thought before the blackout and convulsions. I used to have epillepsy as an infant where I'd suddenly have a blank stare and blank out. I've also had one impact seizure, I could remember that one. I never even knew that I had convulsed, I just had a huge headace and blanked out walking to the bathroom after hitting my head. But from what I've heard about seizures is that you behave a certain way and have certain thoughts when your body knows it is going to have a seizure. A lot of time epileptic people will feel very anxious and scared and then suddenly get calm right before they blackout. I really don't know anything about seizures other than from my one experience, but I'm just assuming that the random thoughts before you convulse are your body's way of telling you that you're about to have a seizure. If they are seizures, they are usually harmless, unless you injure yourself falling or are driving a car or something. But I could be totally wrong and they could be from something else. Either way, you have to go see a doctor about this. A lot of people blackout when they get up too soon, but most of them don't have convulsions.

Lol, ok first of all relax. It happens to 20-30 percent of the world people out there. When you stand too quick, the blood flows away from the brain. Its like losing oxygen to the brain sorta. You can go see a doctor, but she will give a lollypop and send you out on your marry way. You will be fine.

Your doctor is the best qualified to answer this question.

We here can only make logical assumptions and should NOT be treated by you as medical fact.

My guess: Physical symptoms indicate a inner ear / vertigo problem may exist. What you experience has at one time happened to us all to some degree.

The flowing thought issues, however, may point to conditions of bi-polar or ADD (attention deficit disorder) issues---that CAN be successfully treated by a doctor. The sooner you see your doctor, the better treatment options become available.

Get to a doctor tomorrow.
If you are anorectic, you could be in big trouble.
Your description sounds like seizures and you need to be checked.

You did NOT say if you've ever seen a doctor about this. If you never did, that's bad. Even if you did, the change in what's happening means you NEED to see your doctor and SOON!

Low blood pressure can kill you... just like too high blood pressure can. GO TO THE DOCTOR TOMORROW!

Yes, it sounds pretty serious. In your condition, go to the doctor immediately.
Take what herbal supplements you can but do NOT use this as your only way to help yourself.

Yes it's expensive but it's not worth your safety or worse. Call a clinic or general practitioner first thing as soon as you're able.

You need to go to the Doctor with this. He will refer you to a neurolgist. I hope you have insurance. If you don't, contact a community hospital in your area and find out where you can get some help with it. You need some medical testing and treatment. It sounds like you need an EEG test. Best wishes to you.

The problem you are having is caused from weak adrenal glands. Your diet and sleep habits are playing a big role in causing this problem. I would try the following suggestions before going to a doctor that will only prescribe drugs that will put you on a path of degeneration of liver and other organs, while only treating the symptoms, not the root cause.

You need to get at least 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night or your body will not go into a REM sleep mode and this will cause you not to "recharge" your adrenal glands. If you have sleep apnea, this can keep you from going into that REM sleep as well.

The pineal gland in your brain area controls the production of melatonin that is necessary for you to have a good nights sleep. If there is any light in the room, like a T.V. or bright night light, this will prevent the pineal gland from turning on the melatonin production. If your circadian rhythm is off, this will cause problems with getting the full nights sleep you need to get those adrenals recharged as well.

A diet low in fat, high in carbohydrates, low in protein will cause blood sugar problems. A deficiency in magnesium will also contribute to this problem in an indirect way.

The correct diet is to have 40% protein, 30% carbs, and 30% fat from good, quality saturated fats and to avoid at all costs the vegetable oils being sold as good for you; they are not.

Blood pressure issues, high or low are from nutrient deficiencies.

To fix the immediate issue of getting dizzy and blacking out problem from standing up quickly, I recommend you do the following and you will be amazed at how quickly this will solve the problem for you:

go to: www.healthline.cc (not .com) or call them at: (310) 320 - 1123 and purchase the following:

Adrenal Complex --- Take 6 - 9 of these before noon each day.

Melatonin --- Start out by taking 1 drop under the tongue the first night just before going to bed. Put it on a spoon and then under the tongue and lick it off with the bottom of your tongue. After the first night start increasing the amount each day to about 5 drops. You can work up to about 10 drops if you like. This is a very powerful form of melatonin and it is made to be the same cell resonance of your own melatonin, so it will not have side effects and will not damage your DNA like synthetic sources sold in health food stores & pharmacies.

Tranquinol --- Take 2 of these capsules before bed each night and after about 10 days, this will reset your circadian rhythm. You can continue taking this for a few weeks if you like.

You must get off the Sodas. ALL of them contain phosphoric acid that binds to your minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron, etc. and makes you deficient in these. Additionally, the sugar is horrible for you and each ounce of soda contains one teaspoon of sugar. The diet drinks greatly affect your liver and hormone production due to the formaldehyde that forms from the sugar substitutes. The caffeine from these greatly affects your sleep issue and adrenal exhaustion.

Make sure you are getting enough good water each day. You need to take your total weight and divide by 2. That will tell you how many ounces of water you need to drink each day.

You need to make sure you eliminate ALL SOY products from your diet, except for how the Japanese eat it, fermented like that found in soy sauce and miso. Soy inhibits iron absorption (over 50%) and other mineral absorption. This is why so many vegetarians are anemic.

good luck to you
