try taking a class about something you're interested in...you will meet people there with similar tastes.
i met one of my best friends in such a class.
you could try book clubs...coffee shops...poetry readings. there are a lot of possibilities.

well in the church you wont find any open minded people...and they are not positive because they always look for the 'ending' or dooms day.
the best place to meet girls is at a university or a buffet place.
