I can't stand Jordan, but he is likely the best of the last 15 years. You forgot to mention Patrick Ewing on the list. He is one of the 50 best players in NBA history. Larry Bird was on his way out in 1992. There are also some notable names that you left off as well that any basketball fan would point out was the best of the last 15 years. You may have heard of them:
Karl Malone
Magic Johnson
Charles Barkley
Shaquille O'Neal

Jeff Hornacek
Vince Carter
Dan Majerle
Penny Hardaway
Jason Kidd

Kobe Bryant
Don't look at the off-court issues. Look at what he does on the court. He's a far better offensive machine compared to MJ. Better from 3 point range. Look at Jordan's time, there were no 7 footers who jacked up treys, a slew of very big and fast Small Forwards (Melo, LeBron, etc), versatile Power Forwards (Garnett, Duncan, Stoudemire). In short, there are more players out there who can dominate a game. But the fact that Kobe can still outhustle them and score against the Bowens, Wallaces, etc. shows that he is a more prolific scorer.
2 consecutive years as Scoring Champion
4 games of 50 points up - (65, 50, 60, 50)
All Defensive Team
2007 All Star Game MVP
81 point performace against the Raptors - with a good FG% at that
7 of 13 from 3 point line
18 of 20 from the free throw line
28 of 46 FGs overall

I saw my first NBA game in 1958, Celtics vs. St. Louis Hawks, at Boston Garden. I caught the 1967 NBA All-Star game in San Francisco too - Wilt, Russell, Oscar, Jerry West, Rick Barry, et al. Michael Jordan is the best player I've seen over the last 50 years.
