Personally I think the Amityville house is haunted. And just because some of the events there was labeled a hoax, does not mean that the house isn t really haunted or possessed. Despite what people may or may not believe, evil DOES exist and in many forms. And whose to say that the Amityville house isn t haunted or doesn t contain an evil presence. We don t know that, we don t live there and we never did. We don t know what really happened there, what did not happen there. Evil can exist in anything in this day and time. To say it cannot, is taking a close minded approach to something that has been PRESENT in many homes and many things for many years. Yes I know I am getting off topic, but in my own opinion I do believe and will always believe the Amityville house contains some sort of demonic presence. And even though the 1979 version of the movie doesn t really do the house justice, whose to say he Lutzes didn t really experience things in that home. I personally believe that some of the movie was based on some sort of truth, even if it doesn t concern the lutzes. Anyways on a closing note, I would like to thank all for reading my post

Hello,
This is Catnip, here. The Amittyville Horror is/was based on the DeFeo family and the growing "dysfunction" between Ronnie DeFao Sr. (the father) and his eldest son, Ronnie Jr. It is speculated that Ronnie Jr.'s "ever-prevalent" (and growing) heroin addiction "displeased"his father and constant fights would ensue. These fights began to include the beatings of the other 5 children, as well as Mrs. DeFao.
While stoned, it is chronicled that "Jr." made a verbal threat that he was going to "kill his father" with a shotgun, while his oldest sister, Dawn added she wished to end thier lives as well. Ronnie Jr. made good on his threat, "peppering" his father to death with buckshot. He then took it 5 more steps further by murdering his mother and siblings.
After Jr.s arrest, the house vacant, another family moved in and claimed the house was haunted by "hostile" ghosts. The couples baby daughter claimed that at night before bed, a large dark shadow of a pig with glowing red eyes (whom she lovingly named "Jodie") would appear in her room and have "playful" conversations with her.
To this day, it is still a controversy whether this is/was fact or fiction. I believe the latter.
Hope I helped,
Catnip

No, I watched an interview with the real Kathy and George Lutz(the were divorced) and they later admitted to making it all up. The original movie was better. Even though it was false it was really creepy. I read the book and it freaked me out.
